Dr. Carl Men Ky Ching, President of United World Chinese Association, and Ms. Jin Lan, Executive Director of IMCC, were invited to the 2006 GLOBAL CITY. Ms. Wang Xiaoling, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou, also attended the forum with them.
Over 1000 representatives from over 150 cities around the world participated in this year’s forum. The theme for the forum this year was “Sustainable Developments”.
Ms. Jin Lan explained the IMCC concepts on metropolitan development to all mayors of the world during the forum’s reception cocktail, highlighting the differences between cities in China and Europe, and how they may supplement each other. Her speech has gained much positive recognition and appreciation from other participants.
During the forum, Dr. Ching and Ms. Jin Lan had separate meetings with various well-known leaders including Ms. Nicky Gavron, Deputy Mayor of London; Mr. Paul Zilk, President of Reed MIDEM and Mr. Charles, Director of International Marketing Department of Lyon City. They have exchanged their opinions and reached a consensus regarding communication and exchange between cities in China and Europe, and cooperation between IMCC and local government and their related institutes.
GLOBAL CITY is a forum for city policy-makers. The participants to GLOBAL CITY are mainly personnel related to establishing municipal policies, including mayors, representatives of local governmental organizations, urban planners, architects and developers, as well as local and international urbanization service providers.

Dr. Ching’s father have been studying with Comrade Deng Xiaoping at Institut Franco-Chinois de Lyon.
