Enshi Entrepreneurs Delegation Visiting OGCLAB at the GMF Secretariat - the NGO in Special Consultative Status with ECOS

The sustainable development symposium was held at OGCLAB.

Entrepreneurs delegation from Enshi, the World’s Selenium Capital, came on Monday (7 May) to visit the Open Green City Laboratory (OGCLAB) launched by the Global Mayors Forum (GMF) Secretriat, which was granted the special consultative status with ECOSOC last year. Along with the Enshi delegation of six entrepreneurs were two entrepreneurs from Shenzhen and the Taoist master Luo Honhong from Jiangxi.  

After being introduced the OGCLAB’s establishment idea and future vision, the entrepreneurs expressed their willingness of bringing the OGCLAB mode back to Enshi City, Hubei Province. 

The Sustainable Development Symposium was then held at the OGCLAB, where topics around how to bring Enshi’s Selenium products to the world with the support of OGCLAB’s globally-connected video conferencing equipment were discussed. The delegation believed that the affluent selenium resources in Enshi should be used to contribute to the green development of the so-called “World’s Selenium Capital - A Green City of Well-being”, and more broadly, to the sustainable development of human.

CPPCC member Mr. Hong Yucai was also invited to the Symposium as the special advisor of OGCLAB. Based on his overseas study experience of environmental protection in Europe in the earlier years, he has made some constructive comments on the green sustainable development projects. 

As is written in the Tao Te Ching, “the ultimate truth shall be of ultimate simplicity where human and the nature are in harmony.” This could well explain how the theory of sustainable development is in alignment with the wisdom of Taoism from Ancient China, Master Luo Hong Indicated. He also pointed out that Enshi and GMF are in an enabling environment where they are sharing a solid foundation for cooperation to promote sustainable development and take it into practices. 

Many ideas have been shared and exchanged in the symposium. Ma Defang, president of Heming Tao Tea indicated that there are a number of enterprises in Enshi that hope to promote urban sustainable development. President of Jinbeijia Selenium Cheng Jingfu showed his interest in drawing on OGCLAB’s experience to combine local Selenium industry and tourism resources with Enshi’s urban development process, and to carry out green projects such as the green capital research institute. President of Enshi Color Cube Real Estate Zhao Guomin said that the real estate industry of Enshi needs to play an active role in boosting green tourism. President of Shenzhen Suoyang New Energy Li Zihong and Managing Director Shen Bolin also expressed their willingness of building a new energy laboratory with OGCLAB.

OGCLAB, as a good example of future public urban green spaces, is equipped with advanced green video conferencing system and other high-quality office supplies and facilities that support sustainable development and environmental protection (such as the HP products), in order to create a glue-free and clip-free green work environment. This has showcased a great market prospect of green industry to the guests.
