The United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development covers 17 goals, the fourth of which is “quality education”, namely: Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning.  (Click here for details)

Under this major goal, there are 10 targets, the tenth of which is “By 2030, substantially increase the supply of qualified teachers, including through international cooperation for teacher training in developing countries, especially least developed countries and small island developing states”.

Teachers' Training

Teachers are one of the most influential and powerful forces to promote educational equity, access to educational opportunities and improve the quality of education.

With the approaching of deadline of 2030 global sustainable development goals, governments, international community, education sectors and teachers' institutions are forming a common belief and paying common action to for teachers’ development training.

About China

International Aid for Education 

China has always been contributing to international education aid. In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, as the largest developing socialist country in the world, China actively contributed to international education aid but at the same time, China also received international education assistance from other countries. China continued to provide training opportunities to college teachers and professional and technical personnel for developing countries. With the reform and opening up in the 1980s, the scale of China's foreign education aid gradually expanded, and began to explore more diversified ways.

In 2010, the Ministry of Education issued the outline of the National Medium and Long Term Education Reform and Development Plan (2010-2020), which proposed to "increase international aid for providing training to professionals for developing countries". Japan Contributed to African Teachers Training

Japan is a successful model of education in the world. In carrying out international aid diplomacy, Japan is fully aware of the value of education. Educational aid is one of the important forms for Japan to carry out international cooperation and exchange, and it is also an important field for Japan to use its soft power to carry out all-round diplomacy.

Since 1998, Japan has assisted Kenya in carrying out a five-year "Strengthening Mathematics and Science in Secondary Education" project to train science and mathematics teachers. In 2002, the project developed into a regional cooperation network system (SMASSE-WECSA) with the participation of many African countries, which is regarded as one of the most important projects of the new partnership for Africa's development.

American Educational Aid to South Africa

One Belt, One Road

One Belt One Road educational cooperation attaches importance to training teachers in recipient countries. It enhanced the "teacher of the Silk Road" in the "Silk Road" teacher exchange programme. China Trust Fund Programme

The China Trust Fund Programme, jointly sponsored by Chinese government and UNESCO, aims to improve the capacity of key teacher training institutions in some sub Saharan African countries.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Initiated by the United Nations

On January 1, 2016, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including 169 targets, of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development — adopted by world leaders in September 2015 at an historic UN Summit — officially came into force. Countries will mobilize efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change, while ensuring that no one is left behind.
