2022 ECOSOC Partnership Forum

On 2 February 2022, the 2022 ECOSOC Partnership Forum was held in the Headquarter building in New York. The event was in hybrid format in person and virtually with the top  "Building back better from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development".

WechatIMG651.jpegMultiple actors and stakeholders participated, including countries, the United Nations system, including international financial institutions, as well as international organizations, parliamentarians, local governments, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, civil society, scientists, academia, women, youth and others. United Nations Officials made the key speeches and they are: 

  • H.E. Mr. Collen Vixen Kelapile, President of Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nation

  • Ms. Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General United Nation

  • Ms. Maria-Francesca Spatolisano, Assistant Secretary-General for Policy Coordination and Inter-Agency Affairs, UN DESA

Participants debated solutions and policies to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic guided by the SDGs. They are expected to (a) exchange new ideas, expectations and priorities which should be explored further by the Council and the high-level political forum in the following months; and (b) shine the spotlight on forward-looking actions and partnerships by countries and all relevant stakeholders that can help recover from the pandemic and accelerate progress towards the 2030 Agenda.

Ms. Jin Lan the Secretary General and Ms. Chen Yanbin the Senior Officer from the Global Mayors Forum of the International Mayors Communication Centre, as the non-governmental organization authorized by the United Nations with special consultative status, participated in the event.
